Just thought I'd post the names that we have most likely decided on. If we have a girl, she will be named Lily Donna, and if we have a boy, he will be named Thomas John.
I came up with Lily because it is Amanda's favorite flower. Donna was Amanda's Grandmother's name.
Thomas was my Grandfather's name. John because most of the males in our families are named John. (Me, my dad, Amanda's Dad, Amanda's brother, Amanda's Grandfather, etc.)
There were a few other names we came up with, but there is also another reason we chose these. We can't think of anyone with any of these names that is an asshole, so they are not ruined for us.
Some people tell us how they agonized over deciding on a name, and how they went back and forth on various different names. It literally took us about 10 minutes one day in the car on the way to go out for supper. We don't mess around.

The worst part about trying to pick a name is trying to pick one that doesn't remind you of a dink you knew or somebody that you just couldn't stand.
That's how we ruled out "Brian" :D
I'm glad you were able to come up with some names so easily since you had already used porkchop. I assume Amanda over-ruled you on your other name choices?
Yeah. She said no to "speedbump" and "muskybait" right away. I really wanted "Ortwin" or "Wilhelmina", but she shot those down too. Even though they totally rule. Unfortunately, we decided on those names before Burns said "Clyde", which is pretty much the greatest name ever.
What about Nathaniel or Disco Superfly? How about Elmer or Woody?
Elmer is cool!
Tommy John... and you said you didn't like baseball... ;)
So much for that name. Guess we're gonna have to go with Clyde or Elmer now...
"Right turn Clyde." -- greatest name, greatest line, greatest non-western Eastwood movie, second greatest non-western movie - right behind Canonball Run.... wait, "Seymour Goldfarb" Herring would be sweet! A kid named after a Roger Moore character! And if it's a girl you could go with "Adrienne Barbeau" Herring - I think she played the hot Lamborghini babe. Nothing bad could come out of being named after her! Or, you could go one step further and jump to another classic, Cannonball Run II, and name him after Telly Savalas's character.... Hymie Kaplan!
Hmmm... on second thought, maybe just stick with Lily and Thomas.
Just watched Fight Club again. "Cornelius"...
Naming babies after celebrities is a very popular thing to do. But that does name the name rather common. In case you didn't know (and why would you?), I was named after Susan Hayward. Of course, my mom didn't know that every other girl born between 1948 and 1952 was named Susan.
I think the names you have picked are cool. I don't know any weird people named Lily or Thomas. Well, there is the bug spray man, but he isn't weird, just his job.
Aunt Susan
Hey Susan, nice to hear from you! We pretty much tried to avoid that sort of thing, neither of us is really a big celebrity person, I think most of them are flakes. I think we had good enough reasons for the names we came up with. As I never knew my biological grandfather, I also like to think that Thomas is a name after one of my personal "hero's", Thomas Paine. Anyway, our best to you and Stuart, talk to you later.
